SUT Simulated Use Test GmbH
Efficacy Determination for Disinfectans (PT 2 & 5) according to ECHA Guideline

Efficacy Test for Disinfectants according ECHA Guideline (PT 2 & 5)

Disinfectants (biocides) for the disinfection of drinking water (product type 5) and swimming pool water (product type 2) are subject to approval in accordance with the EU Biocidal Products Regulation 1.) For authorization, products must demonstrate sufficient efficacy according defined test criteria which are specified in the ECHA Guideline 2.) The SUT Simulated Use Test GmbH offers the efficacy test according to the ECHA Guideline.

This Simulated Use Test is carried out at a corresponding test stand (disinfectant test rig), which operates on the flow-through principle. The test is thus carried out exactly according to the specifications of the guideline, such as pH, DOC, temperature, contact times, etc. as well as with the defined microorganisms (Escherichia coli, Enterococcus faecium, bacteriophages MS2, PRD1).

Test Reports on the Efficacy of your Disinfectant

After execution, a test report will be prepared, which can be submitted to the competent authority (eg Federal Office for Chemicals at the Federal Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (BAuA)) within the framework of the authorization of biocidal products. Our offer is therefore aimed in particular at manufacturers or distributors of disinfectants subject to authorization in accordance with the EU Biocidal Products Regulation.

We have many years of experience in determining the microbiological efficacy of disinfectants in drinking and swimming pool water.

The underlying principle of the procedure is recommended as Simulated Use Test for products in swimming pool water (product type 2) according to the OECD Guideline 3.) (Series on Testing and Assessment No. 170; Series on Biocides No. 4). The OECD Guidance therefore also applies according to the ECHA Guideline.

Also for this application we offer the test in the flow-through principle with adjusted operating conditions, such as shorter contact times, higher temperatures and with additional test organisms:

1.) Regulation (EU) No 528/2012 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 22 May 2012 concerning the making available on the market and use of biocidal products Text with EEA relevance

2.) Guidance-Document der ECHA und UBA: Quantitative determination of the efficacy of drinking water disinfectants; Version: 2013/02 (E)

3.) Guidance Document for Demonstrating Efficacy of Pool and Spa Disinfectants in Laboratory and Field Testing
